This one’s a BIG win for Atlantic City, and yeah… I’m smiling ear to ear about it. If you’ve been coming down for college hoops the last few years, you already know the vibe is right. Now it’s official — Atlantic City is the long-term home of MAAC championship basketball.
The Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference just committed to keeping their Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships right here in Atlantic City from 2027 through 2031. That’s five straight years, the longest host run in MAAC history. Translation? More packed hotels, louder Boardwalk Hall crowds, and even more national eyes on our city.
All the action stays together — men’s and women’s tournaments, one destination, one championship atmosphere. And that destination is Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, which has become one of the best college basketball stages in the Northeast. Walkable hotels, great food, nightlife, and hoops all day? That’s how it’s done.
This is also a big shoutout moment for Visit Atlantic City and the Atlantic City Sports Commission for keeping the MAAC right where it belongs. The teams love it, the fans love it, and ESPN loves it — with championship games landing in prime TV windows.
And don’t forget, we’re not waiting until 2027 to get loud. The 2026 MAAC Men’s and Women’s Basketball Championships tip off March 5–10, right here in AC. If you’re looking for Things to do in Atlantic City, this is a no-brainer — especially if you like your March madness with a Boardwalk breeze.
Make a weekend out of it. Grab a room, catch multiple games, hit dinner after, and do it all over again the next day. College hoops and Atlantic City just work.
See you on the 48
AC Mike
