Meet Dave Damiani: The Voice Bringing Quincy Jones’ Music to Atlantic City
Hey Folks,
I’ve met a lot of entertainers over the years, but every once in a while you meet someone who doesn’t just perform in Atlantic City—they genuinely connect with it.
That’s what happened when I first met Dave Damiani several years ago after one of his performances. We started talking, stayed in touch, and over time became good friends. Whenever Dave was in town, we’d spend time exploring the Atlantic City that locals know and love. We’d walk the Boardwalk, grab something to eat, visit some favorite spots, and talk about the incredible history that makes this city unlike anywhere else.
After one of those visits, Dave headed back home to Los Angeles. A few days later, I received a text from him.
He told me how much he had enjoyed his time here and said Atlantic City had made a lasting impression on him. He wanted to write a song that captured everything he experienced—the energy, the nostalgia, the people, and the places that make this city so special.
A short time later, he sent me that song.
The first time I heard it, I smiled because Dave nailed it as only he can and had somehow managed to capture the time we spent together along with own memories of the 48 Blocks and brought out the spirit of Atlantic City in a few minutes of music. Listen closely and you’ll hear references to Resorts, the Boardwalk, The 500 Club, White House Subs, the Irish Pub, Steel Pier, Boardwalk Hall, Miss America, and so many of the places and memories that generations of us have shared, Dave brought the past and the present together
The song resonated with us so much that I made sure a copy reached then-Mayor Don Guardian. Sure enough, he loved it. Before long, we were sharing it with others throughout the city, and its popularity continued to grow. The response was so overwhelming that Mayor Guardian and the City of Atlantic City officially recognized Dave’s contribution with a proclamation honoring his work and designating “It’s Pure AC” as the city’s official anthem. That’s a remarkable honor and a testament to just how deeply Dave’s music connected with the Atlantic City community.
I’m also excited to share a little personal news. When I launch The AC Mike Show Podcast later this month, you’ll hear It’s Pure AC as the official theme song. Dave generously gave me permission to use it, and I can’t think of a better way to open each episode than with a song that celebrates the city we both care so much about.
Today, Dave continues to share that same passion through his performances across the country, but Atlantic City has always remained close to his heart.
Dave Returns to Atlantic City – July 18
I’m excited to tell you that Dave is bringing one of his biggest productions yet back to Atlantic City.
On Saturday, July 18 at 8:00 PM, Dave Damiani and the No Vacancy Orchestra will present The Quincy Jones Experience – Soundtrack of Our Lives inside the Superstar Theater at Resorts Casino Hotel Atlantic City.
This isn’t your typical tribute concert.
It’s a full-scale musical celebration honoring one of the greatest producers, composers, and arrangers in music history—Quincy Jones. You’ll hear unforgettable songs made famous by Frank Sinatra, Michael Jackson, George Benson, Diana Ross, James Ingram, The Brothers Johnson, Ray Charles, Patti Austin, and many more, all performed with the incredible sound of the No Vacancy Orchestra.
If you appreciate world-class musicianship, timeless songs, and the excitement that only a live orchestra can deliver, I think you’re going to love this show.
