AC Mike’s Weekend Update: Comedy, Concerts & Fall Shore Festivals (October 9–11, 2026)
Hey Folks,
October has arrived, but don’t mistake cooler evenings for a quiet Jersey Shore. This Friday through Sunday, October 9–11, Atlantic City is bringing the laughs and major live music, Ocean City is turning Asbury Avenue into a huge fall block party, Wildwood is holding onto festival season, and Cape May County is stacking up the kinds of local traditions that make this area special. This is a particularly good weekend to choose one big event, explore a nearby town, and leave room for a great local meal along the way.
There’s plenty worth your time whether you want a ticketed show, a free afternoon outdoors, a family outing or something a little unusual. Here are the standouts I’d put on your radar. Dates and times below are for Friday, October 9; Saturday, October 10; and Sunday, October 11, 2026. Use the direct event links to double-check last-minute changes before leaving home.
Atlantic City: Two Nights of Comedy at Boardwalk Hall
One of the weekend’s biggest attractions is the Atlantic City Comedy Festival at Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, Friday and Saturday, October 9–10. The festival’s announced lineup across the two nights includes Sheryl Underwood, DeRay Davis, Bruce Bruce, Tommy Davidson, Mark Curry, Lavell Crawford, Tony Rock, Don DC Curry, Adele Givens and Special K. That’s a substantial group of familiar names on one Atlantic City stage, and a terrific option if you’re looking for a full night out with friends rather than a single opening act and headliner.
Boardwalk Hall lists 8 p.m. Friday for Night 1 and has a separate Saturday Night 2 listing; check the event page for each night’s final lineup, start time and tickets. The venue is at 2301 Boardwalk, Atlantic City. If you’re making a night of it, the surrounding Boardwalk restaurants and attractions make it easy to turn a comedy ticket into a full Atlantic City outing. Get the official festival details at Boardwalk Hall’s Atlantic City Comedy Festival page.
Friday Night Music: A Journey Tribute at Borgata
If classic arena-rock songs are more your speed, VOYAGE — Celebrating the Music of Journey comes to The Music Box at Borgata on Friday, October 9, at 7:30 p.m. Borgata’s smaller performance room gives tribute concerts a more intimate setting than the big arena experience. Expect an evening centered on the soaring vocals, big hooks and sing-along energy that made Journey a staple of rock radio; this is the night for anyone who still turns up those classics in the car.
Borgata is at 1 Borgata Way in Atlantic City, and the show appears on the resort’s current schedule. For show and ticket information, see the official Borgata entertainment calendar.
Saturday Concert Choices: Gladys Knight, The Revivalists and Jamey Johnson
Gladys Knight headlines Borgata’s Event Center on Saturday, October 10, at 8 p.m. It’s hard to think of a more enduring voice in American soul music. With a career spanning R&B, pop and gospel, Knight brings the kind of catalog that turns a concert into an evening of songs many people know by heart. If you want a sophisticated, memorable Atlantic City music night, this is a strong choice. Find details on Borgata’s official Gladys Knight event page.
For the rock crowd, The Revivalists perform at Ovation Hall at Ocean Casino Resort on Saturday, October 10, at 8 p.m., with Fantastic Negrito also listed on the bill. The New Orleans band’s blend of rock, soul and roots influences makes this a different kind of live show from the more traditional casino headliners. Ocean Casino Resort is at 500 Boardwalk. The official concert listing has the lineup and ticket information.
Country fans have an equally compelling option: Jamey Johnson brings his Traveling Truebadour Tour to the Tropicana Showroom on Saturday, October 10, at 8 p.m. Johnson has earned a devoted following for traditional-leaning country songwriting and a lived-in, unmistakable voice. It’s a good choice for listeners who prefer their country music built around the song itself. Tropicana is at 2831 Boardwalk; the concert is listed on Jamey Johnson’s official tour schedule.
Something Different in AC: Wheel of Fortune LIVE! and Late-Night Bands
Here’s a fun change of pace: Wheel of Fortune LIVE! is at Sound Waves inside Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Atlantic City on Saturday, October 10, with performances listed at 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. It’s the familiar television game-show concept brought to a live stage, a particularly appealing choice for people who like interactive entertainment without committing to a concert. Hard Rock lists both shows on its official event calendar; check the show’s ticket page for audience participation details and eligibility rules.
You can also enjoy live music without planning your whole night around a theater seat. B Bar at Borgata lists the Adam Holcombe Trio from 7:30–11 p.m. Friday, followed by the No Standards Trio from 11:30 p.m.–3 a.m. On Saturday, the scheduled sets are the Jimmy Brogan Trio from 7:30–11 p.m. and Cheezy & The Crackers Trio from 11:30 p.m.–3 a.m. It’s a handy alternative for an after-dinner stop. Confirm the schedule on Borgata’s B Bar live-entertainment page.
Ocean City: The Fall Block Party Takes Over Asbury Avenue
If you only pick one big daytime street festival, Ocean City’s Fall Block Party belongs near the top of the list. On Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Asbury Avenue becomes a bustling outdoor marketplace stretching from Fifth Street to 14th Street. Organizers expect more than 400 craft and food vendors, plus music and other attractions, turning a regular downtown stroll into a full day of browsing, eating and enjoying the fall Shore atmosphere.
One of the pleasures of this event is discovering independent makers, shops and food stands rather than racing through a tightly timed program. The Cape May County Chamber reports free parking in Ocean City municipal lots and at metered spaces on Saturday, which is especially welcome for a popular fall weekend. Wear comfortable shoes and take your time. Event details are on the official Ocean City Fall Block Party page.
Ocean City After Dark: Broadway Songs at the Music Pier
The Ocean City Theatre Company is presenting A Grand Night for Singing at the Ocean City Music Pier, 825 Boardwalk. This Rodgers & Hammerstein revue brings together beloved music from shows including Oklahoma!, Carousel, South Pacific, The King and I and more. It’s a natural fit for musical-theater fans and makes a nice evening pairing with the Saturday Block Party.
Weekend performances are listed for Friday, October 9, at 7 p.m.; Saturday, October 10, at 7 p.m.; and Sunday, October 11, at 2 p.m. The city’s official performance listing includes the show’s description and links to the theater company for tickets. And for Sunday bargain hunters, Ocean City’s Boardwalk & Downtown Merchant Discount Days continue October 11 in the Boardwalk and Asbury Avenue shopping districts; the city events calendar lists the hours as 8 a.m.–5 p.m. for the day.
Smithville: Two Full Days of Irish Music, Dancing and Local Flavor
The Historic Smithville Irish Festival returns to the Village Greene at 615 East Moss Mill Road in Galloway for Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m.–6 p.m. and Sunday, October 11, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. The official festival site says admission is free, the event is rain or shine, and leashed dogs are welcome. Organizers are celebrating the festival’s 22nd year with Celtic bands, Irish dancers, bagpipers, artisans, food vendors and family activities spread around the village.
There’s even a mobile Irish pub called The Thatch Pub on the festival grounds, adding another distinctive touch for adults. Historic Smithville itself has small shops, places to eat and plenty of room for a leisurely walk, so this is an especially flexible day trip for mixed-age groups. Check the official Smithville Irish Festival site for performance details, parking and any day-of changes.
Wildwood: The Golden-Age Shore Meets Oktoberfest
Wildwood Days Festival makes its debut on Saturday, October 10, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Byrne Plaza, 3400 Pacific Avenue. Presented by the Bobby Rydell Foundation, this free event looks back at the Shore’s classic music-and-boardwalk era with a nostalgic festival atmosphere, crafts, gifts and food vendors. It’s a good pick for anybody who loves Wildwood’s distinctive entertainment history and wants a daytime outing that doesn’t require buying a show ticket. The official Wildwoods event page has the details.
There’s also one last weekend to catch Morey’s Piers Oktoberfest at Mariner’s Pier, 3501 Boardwalk, running Friday through Sunday, October 9–11. Admission to enjoy the pier’s Oktoberfest atmosphere is free; amusement rides require tickets or a wristband. The official music schedule includes Fat Mezz Friday, 6:30–10:30 p.m.; Animal House Saturday, 1–5 p.m.; Yani Saturday, 6:30–10:30 p.m.; and Misguided Sunday, 2–6 p.m. Add German-inspired food, strolling entertainers and rides, and you have a lively way to extend fall festival season. The complete schedule and ride options are at Morey’s official Oktoberfest page.
Cape May: Victorian Weekend, Vintage Base Ball and History
Cape May leans into one of the things it does best with Victorian Weekend, October 9–12, presented by Cape May MAC. The weekend is designed around the city’s remarkable architecture and history, with house tours, trolley experiences, lectures and other programs. It’s a very Cape May kind of celebration: a chance to look beyond the restaurants and beachfront and spend time with the stories behind the historic streets and homes. Many tours are ticketed and operate on different schedules, so select the experiences you want from the official Victorian Weekend program.
Two particularly interesting options are already scheduled. On Saturday, October 10, at 11 a.m., players in vintage-style uniforms take to Lafayette Field for a vintage base ball game using rules from 1864—yes, two words, just like the old days. Bring a chair or blanket; organizers ask visitors not to bring pets, glass containers or alcohol. Then on Sunday, October 11, from 10 a.m.–4 p.m., the Victorian Weekend Crafts & Collectibles Show comes to the Emlen Physick Estate, with regional makers and a planned appearance by the Wheelmen, who keep the history of early bicycles alive.
For history-minded readers, there’s also a Sunday evening program: Susan Eisenhower is scheduled to speak at Cape May Convention Hall at 5 p.m. October 11 in Contemporary Ike: The Art of Strategic Leadership, part of Cape May MAC’s Lessons of History series. Her perspective on her grandfather’s leadership adds a thoughtful option to a weekend otherwise full of music, markets and festivals. See the official lecture details for admission and ticket information.
Avalon: Seafood, Art and Beach Hayrides
Avalon’s Arts & Seafood Festival combines several good reasons to visit the island on Saturday, October 10, from 10 a.m.–5 p.m. at Surfside Park, 30th Street and the beach. Local seafood vendors share the scene with artisan booths, live entertainment, children’s crafts, face painting and a beverage lounge. There are even beach hayrides from 10 a.m.–3 p.m. departing from the 29th Street parking lot. Festival admission is listed as free by the Cape May County Chamber, with food and other purchases separate. For specifics and the performance lineup, visit the official Avalon Arts & Seafood Festival page.
West Cape May: Yes, There’s a Festival for Lima Beans
This might be the most wonderfully specific local tradition on the calendar. The West Cape May Lima Bean Festival runs Saturday, October 10, from 9 a.m.–4 p.m. at Backyard Park, 732 Broadway, behind the firehouse. It celebrates the town’s farming heritage with food vendors, handmade crafts, local goods and a touch of hometown humor. Organizers list live music by Nolan Quinn and a noon magic show by The Great Loudini. Admission is free, and a free jitney is scheduled to help visitors move between parking areas and the festival. Be sure to use Backyard Park as your destination—not older listings that place the festival in Wilbraham Park. See the current event details and transportation information.
Hammonton: Carnival Rides or a Family Farm Afternoon
If you’re heading inland with the kids, the St. Mary of Mount Carmel Parish Carnival & Fall Festival continues through Sunday, October 11 at the St. Anthony Picnic Grounds on Route 206 in Hammonton. The parish lists carnival rides, food, live entertainment and a beer-and-wine garden, while Sunday’s activities add pumpkin painting, face painting, balloon twisting, a hayride and a corn maze. This is the sort of community-centered outing that can keep the whole family busy without a long drive to the Boardwalk. Check the parish’s official event information for hours and ride details.
For a quieter fall outing nearby, The Red Barn Farm at 391 Route 206, Hammonton is running its Sunflower & Fall Festival throughout the weekend. The farm lists Friday from 4 p.m. to dusk and Saturday and Sunday from 11 a.m. to dusk, with free general grounds access and separately priced attractions such as a hayride, corn maze and giant bounce pillow. Pumpkin picking is part of the October season, and the farm advertises a night corn maze for Friday and Saturday evenings. It’s a flexible choice when you want fresh air and autumn activities at your own pace. Check the official farm calendar and ticket information.
