If you spend enough time talking with people around Atlantic City and South Jersey, one subject eventually comes up: housing. And when we talk about housing, we usually talk about buildings, neighborhoods, rents and availability. But there’s another part of the equation that deserves some attention too — the people responsible for taking care of those properties and the residents who call them home. That’s why I wanted to introduce you to Gorberg Properties.

More Than Just Owning Property

Gorberg Properties has a pretty straightforward philosophy: own and operate quality properties, maintain them properly, and treat residents and partners with professionalism and respect. That might sound simple, but anybody who’s ever rented a home knows how important those basics really are. When something needs attention, you want somebody paying attention. And in this case, there really is a person behind the name. There’s a big difference between a faceless corporate landlord and an owner who’s willing to show up, walk the properties and put his own name behind the work.

That’s the approach Gorberg Properties is bringing to the communities where it operates, and I think it’s something worth highlighting here in Atlantic City.

Why I’m Telling You About Them

Here’s something I actually like about this story: I’m not writing this because Gorberg Properties has a bunch of empty apartments they’re trying to fill. In fact, their properties are currently occupied. They’re introducing themselves to the Atlantic City community because they want people to know who they are, what they stand for, and the kind of property owner they intend to be.

I’ve always believed that businesses that become part of our community should actually be part of the community. That means showing up, building relationships, taking care of what you own and treating people well. That’s especially important in real estate because a property isn’t just an investment on a spreadsheet. For somebody else, it’s home.

That’s good for residents, it’s good for neighborhoods, and ultimately, it’s good for Atlantic City.
