State Wrestling Championships Are Staying Right Here in Atlantic City
Hey Folks,
Last weekend you could feel it all over town — packed restaurants, busy hallways, and that buzz you only get when something big is happening in Atlantic City. If you were down here, you already know… wrestling weekend just hits different.
And here’s the best part — it’s staying right here.
The New Jersey State Wrestling Championships are officially sticking with Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall, and honestly, I don’t think there’s a better place for it.
Now let me share something that really hit home for me.
As a former wrestler and proud AC ❤️ NJ guy, I couldn’t be happier seeing this tournament staying in Atlantic City for years to come. Back when I wrestled at Oakcrest High School, the state championships were held at Princeton’s Jadwin Gym — great venue, no doubt… but it’s no Boardwalk Hall.
What I would’ve given to wrestle under those lights.
That building just has a different feel. The history, the atmosphere, the crowd — it’s something special. And I heard it all weekend long talking to parents, wrestlers, coaches, referees, even folks from the NJSIAA. Across the board, everyone said the same thing…
They love being here in Atlantic City.
If you caught my last piece, you already saw how powerful this weekend is for the city:

This isn’t just a tournament — it’s one of those signature Atlantic City weekends. Hotels are full, restaurants are buzzing, and the Boardwalk comes alive. It’s families, fans, and athletes all experiencing everything AC has to offer.
You come for the matches… but you stay for the weekend.
And that’s what makes this one of the best “Things to do in Atlantic City” every year — it’s not just an event, it’s an experience.
Bottom line — this is a big win for Atlantic City, for the wrestling community, and for everyone who loves seeing this town thrive.
