What’s Happening Around the Shore This Week
Hey Folks,
Going forward, I’ll be sending these Weekend Shore Updates every Thursday or Friday morning so you’ll have plenty of time to make plans for everything happening around Atlantic City, the Jersey Shore, and South Jersey. From concerts and festivals to family events, live entertainment, local news, and a few hidden gems, my goal is to make this your go-to guide for the weekend ahead.
We’re kicking things off a day later than planned this week, but I didn’t want to wait until next Friday to get started. There are simply too many great things happening around the Shore this weekend not to share them with you.
So grab a cup of coffee, take a few minutes to look through what’s happening, and maybe you’ll discover your next adventure right here in our own backyard.
❤️ Good News Around Our Communities
One story that really stood out this week comes from Brigantine, where the Police Department continues making a difference through its L.E.A.D. (Law Enforcement Against Drugs) program. For the past five years, officers have been building relationships with local students long before they ever need them during an emergency. That’s community policing at its best, and it’s the kind of positive story we need more of.
Congratulations also go out to Stockton University, which announced two new deans to lead its Schools of Health Sciences and Business. Stockton was also recognized for the fifth consecutive year as one of the nation’s most transfer-friendly universities, continuing its commitment to helping students succeed right here in South Jersey.
If live theater is your thing, don’t miss the Ocean City Theatre Company production of Sister Act this August at the Bill & Nancy Hughes Performing Arts Center. I’ve been to several OCTC productions over the years, and they consistently put on first-class performances.

📅 Looking Ahead
The Somers Point Arts Commission is currently accepting artists and photographers for the 10th Annual Art in the Park on September 19 at Kennedy Park. It’s one of those hometown events that perfectly captures the creative spirit of South Jersey.
Atlantic County health officials also announced that mosquito samples collected in Egg Harbor Township recently tested positive for West Nile Virus. It’s simply a good reminder to wear insect repellent and eliminate standing water around your home during mosquito season.

⭐ Mike’s Pick of the Week
If I had to pick just one event this week, I’d head to Kennedy Plaza Monday night for Lundi Gras on the Boardwalk. Gary U.S. Bonds is a true rock and roll legend, and Tony Mart always knows how to put together a fantastic night of music. Best of all, it’s free. Grab dinner at one of Atlantic City’s great restaurants beforehand, bring a chair, and enjoy a classic summer evening on the Boardwalk.
❤️ Support Local This Week
Whether you’re taking in a free concert, catching a headline show at Hard Rock or Ocean Casino Resort, enjoying dinner at your favorite local restaurant, or simply walking the Boardwalk with family and friends, remember that every visit helps support the businesses and organizations that make South Jersey such a special place to live, work and visit.
